His Holimess

Exactly what is the argument against the Dalai Lama? What is the data people are using to accuse him of being a terrorist?

From what I’ve read on this, the dalai lama, for years, has had the opportunity to make peace for certain people and has not. Instead he has taken money from individuals (nazi members) and special interest groups (CIA, Nazi Party) and used it to raise an army to keep the groups he’s trying to help at bay.
Mother Teresa was apparently the same way. She took the noney to help the poor and then gave the poor only enough to get them by but still left them in a postion where they were still poor and in need of (more) money therefore she was able to raise more money because the people were still poor.
However, the dalai lama has many suspicious friends who have convictions and printed records of their terrorist activities and this is what makes the dalai lama very suspicious.

to my understanding…i always knew that the dalai lama was a man of peace who lived a simplistic life and for his people…but it would be suspicious of his actions leading toward terroism…

Wow. The only things I could find were from 2008. It would seem the Chinese could not control the Dalai lama and therefore they condemned him as a terrorist… a title the whole world is afraid of and angry at. If I read the one comment correctly that started the “terrorist” accusation, all he said was that you could not reason with terrorists b/c their minds are closed. I’m with rudy, i recognise the dalai lama as a man of peace. period. He promotes happiness in this world and wants humans to be happy, not hating and fighting each other. I would be interested in reading whatever realityforest has read b/c i could not find anything truly negative about the dalai lama. Got any websites?

This is something I read years ago in a magazine article comparing religious figures and politcal crooks but I just googled “dalai lama terrorist” and quite a few hits popped up.
type in ‘conspiracy theory’ behind his name and I’m sure you’ll get a lot of fun hits as well.
I myself do not judge someone’s friends and their friend’s past behaviours.
Here’s an example, Let’s just say I was good friends with Anna from V. Perhaps she is accused of killing some people in the past. Some accusations can be proven some cannot. Doesn’t change the fact I’m friends with her, After all I’m very forgiving of the past. perhaps because she’s my good friend, she wants to help me out of a situation that I don’t have the means to do on my own. She helps me and I accept. I don’t question her sources as a friend because she’s my friend. This is the case with the Dalai Lama. He’s accepted help from reliable friends without question. Others are aware of this and spread the word to make the dalai lama look bad because he’s turning a blind eye.
doesn’t really matter, the dalai lama has given us some great quotes and without that we wouldn’t have the great album title of marks.

    cheers to you dalai

you’ll be glad to know mark that magic spell reached the top ten on my ipod top ten and ready to fall is racing for a top twenty debut next week. scissor sisters finally dethroaned your siddhartha song after three weeks at number one. you put up a great fight mark. keep the tunes coming and I’m looking forward to the new season of V.

Propaganda + internet + lack of critical thinking = the DL is a terrorist.

Propaganda: governments and groups will distort anything to forward their agenda.

Internet: many people believe that something must be true “because it is on the internet”.

Lack of critical thinking: many people accept information (from tv, radio, internet) as fact without question.

I am Chinese. After reading what you wrote, I totally believe you. I like my country but I hate my government. In China, most of tv channels has to broadcast cctv’s news, which is always full of crap. It is natural that Chinese will accept information from media as fact without question because we are so lack of critical thinking. When we were children, we were educated to be without question about our government. So this type of thinking can not be easily changed. Many Chinese people cannot accept that DL is really for piece. I cannot even express my negative opinions about government on the internet as what I wrote would be harmonized (means deleted) quickly. I really hate our Party.

there are quite a few reasons why he is targeted – but i think the main reason is that he is seen not only as a religious leader but also as a political leader. he is still loudly and openly seeking independence for the tibetan people which is a direct challenge / threat to communism and the chinese government.

It is his “political” standing rather than his religion which has caused him to be labelled a terrorist.

Here is an example from an interview given only last Saturday.
: His Holiness expressed his firm believe that one day, he would win over Chinese leaders in Beijing to seek genuine autonomy for all Tibetan people, and reiterated that he was not seeking separation from China.
: His Holiness also said: Tibet is not an issue of Dalai Lama institution, it’s about the well-being of six million Tibetan people and their rights.

So long as these rights do not materialise, then the movement to realise the just cause of Tibet will remain, whether I am alive or not. Important is Buddhism and Tibetan culture, not the institution of Dalai Lama, he added.

I do not believe in perfection. Anything that doesn’t have faults at first sight needs a second look, a third and a fourth one, if necessary. Smart people have learned to call it “closer to perfection than anyone else” instead, but that’s still the same thing in essence. How do you even measure perfection?
From my largely agnostic point of view the dalai lama is a politician, just like any head of state or religion. I have to say I’m not actually aware of any facts that would separate tha dalai lama from his peers enough to merit a classification as a terrorist. But now that I’ve read this I’m interested in finding out whether there’s something to it, so I’ll be staying around to see if anyone can point to a credible source – emphasis on credible.

People are always afraid of what they don’t understand. They like the status quo, because it’s comfortable in their little box. If someone steps outside the box, they’re going to get their dander up. It has been this way since humanity first came on the scene. When I converted from Baptist Christian to Druid, there was a huge uproar from some of the folks in my life. The ones who knew me, who loved me for who I was, stayed. The others spread rumors and did their back-biting for a while, and when they found out it didn’t bother me, they went on to the next thing to fuss about. All a matter of perception and not being like everyone else, I imagine. He is a huge influence for peace, and those who like their wars and such can’t make a profit from peace.

Hi Mark, Im new in your site, I saw some of the postes and the only thing that I can tell you is that always when people tried to make a difference in this workd they will be put apart.
My Lord Jesus said: If you follow me you are not of this world, then the world will go against you… the road of Salvation is not easy, the door is thin, the path is dangerous but who goes forward will be granted … Its simple
You need to get brave heart, faith in yourself and keep walking
When Jesus came to our world, he came to change, to renew our way of life (Apocalypsis 21,5: I make all things new) but the people didnt receive this messages because they didnt want to see the light they didnt want to change… In the end they will see their mistake and the knowledge of their fault will condemn them…
Continue doing the things you do, keep making the difference… God Bless You
